Is Depression A Sane Reaction To An Insane Society?

Mon, 2018-02-19 10:42

BLuke Miller Truth Theory

Depression is one of the most common mental health issues faced, with an estimated 300 million people across the globe suffering from it, but is the problem the disorder or the society that could be possible for its creation?

Depression can be a crippling condition which often leaves you feeling as if there is no hope in the world at all. It definitely varies in its extremities from person to person and can manifest as a mild bout lasting a few weeks, up to multiple years (or a lifetime) of complete loss.

The question is- Is depression a sane reaction to the society we are living in?

The default view of depression is that something is wrong with the sufferer, the person has a chemical imbalance in the brain or there is a diseased that needs fixing. The general consensus from those who are treating depression (and even the ones suffering) is the depressed person has a problem, that needs to be fixed. The steps that usually follow are the person suffering should seek out help, such as therapy and/or medication.

But what if the problem is only in part with the person, meaning, they cannot switch off from a society which is clearly broken in many areas. Many people do not wake up and think of the refugee crisis, child labour, slavery, financial inequality, animal abuse, racism, sexism or the poor distribution and hoarding of global resources. This does not mean that these problems are not real.

Much of the real world can be an extremely depressing place outside of our own individual bubble. This is not to say that we cannot be happy alongside this suffering, but if we are viewing mental health as an individual problem, when (in part) it is a collective one it could affect the way we go about dealing with the issue. This is not to divert individual responsibility as regardless of the external world, we can still create a happy internal world, however, knowing the trigger/s can work to understand the problem a little better.

I don’t want this post to seem like everything is doom and gloom. The reality is there are so many beautiful things in this world, and where you put your attention is certainly the area that grows. But with that in mind there are so many things that are fundamentally wrong about society, and pretending they don’t exist in the name of positivity is to deny the obvious.

The fact is the way society is structured is not okay and many of our daily issues come as a result of this. It is okay to be outraged by society, you should be and if you are not, maybe you are missing something. I believe that many mental health issues are just a normal reaction to a society that is seeing injustice and suffering unnecessarily unfolding in front of its eyes. Let us know what you think! Much love, Luke

Grieving Father Explains Why He Feels The 9/11 Attacks Were A “Controlled Demolition”

BLuke Miller Truth Theory

“My son Bobby was killed in the World Trade Center, in an explosion that went off before the towers fell”

There has been much debate on how the events of 9/11 unfolded, with many “experts”, eye witnesses and activists questioning the official story. One of the leading organisations who have been at the forefront debating the official story are AE911Truth, a group comprised of 2,500 architects and engineers from the top of the industry and academia.

Collective Evolutions reports

AE911Truth has cited overwhelming evidence that the towers, including building 7, were in fact destroyed by controlled demolition. Now, new research conducted at the University of Alaska Fairbanks has confirmed that the official NIST explanation surrounding how the WTC7 building fell is completely false. NIST claims the building fell due to fires and this new study remodelled and recreated the entire day’s events around building 7 and proved very eloquently that the explanation is impossible and that the only logical and physical explanation is via a controlled demolition.

The study took place over two years and cost about $300,000 to perform. Leory Hulsey Ph.D., P. E., S.E., was the lead researcher on the study. He is the civil and environmental engineering department chair at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and well recognized in his field. He made a presentation of the findings of the study live on September 6, 2017 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. It included the detailed findings and conclusions he and his team found as well as the next steps for the study which included peer review as well as an open period for feedback and criticism.

One of the advocates of the AE911Truth movement is Bob McIlvaine who started to question the true events of 9/11 after his 26-year-old son was tragically killed while entering the North Tower of The World Trade Center. Below is the testimony of many eyewitnesses on the day and McIlvaine calling for a further investigation and explanation of the true unfoldings of 9/11.

Why Veganism In The U.s. Has Grown By 600% In The Past 3 Years

Sat, 2018-02-17 15:16

By ALANNA KETLER, Collective Evolution

Being vegan, or if you prefer to not have the label but following a plant-based diet – is no longer taboo or a laughing matter.

The results are in and more and more people across the globe are choosing an animal free diet. In the U.S. alone, veganism has risen by 600% since 2014. Why this has happened can be attributed to a number of different reasons.

An increased awareness towards the atrocities that are taking place on factory farms.
Compassion towards animals.
A drive for increased personal health and wellness.
A growing concern towards the environmental destruction caused by meat eating.
shift in consciousness within ourselves that leads to greater connection to the body, earth and animals.

One thing is for sure, as we shift and our awareness continues to grow, people are taking responsibility and making big changes in their lives.

According to the video below:

“Veganism in the U.S. has increased by 600% in the past three years alone. Six percent of Americans identified as vegans in 2017, compared to only one percent in 2014. Non-dairy milk sales have also increased by 61% since 2012, which is causing traditional cow milk sales to decrease. According to data released by GrubHub, people chose vegan food 195% more in the first half of 2017 than the year before.

The trend is spreading globally too, people identifying as ‘vegans’ increased 350% in the UK, compared to a decade ago. Vegetarianism rose by 400% in the last 10 years in Portugal. In HongKong, 22% of people are practicing a plant-based diet. In China, even the government is getting on the plant-based train, by encouraging people to cut their meat consumption in half. Researchers think China’s plant-based market will grow more than 17% by 2020. Based on these numbers, it’s clear that more and more people are shifting toward plant-based diets”

I wrote another article a few months ago about how adopting a plant-based diet was set to become the next mega trend in 2018 – you can read more about that here. But, it seems as though this is not simply a “trend” as these numbers are only growing as more and more people are starting to see for themselves just how simple, cost-effective, and delicious a plant-based diet can be.

Does It Have To Be All-Or-Nothing?

While choosing to eat a plant-based diet is a great decision for many reasons, people often feel as though this is an all-or-nothing approach to diet, but really it doesn’t have to be this way. The options aren’t, planet-based or nothing. There are many things you can do that will have an impact on your health, the environment, and animal welfare. While it’s best to go straight plant-based, for many reasons, start small might be the right choice for some people.

Adopting a Reducetarian type of diet can be a huge step in the right direction and a great way to ease into a more plant-based way of living. By drastically cutting back your intake of animals and animal products you are still making a huge impact. Doing so allows you to get a feel for all of the delicious foods that can be made animal free and you can afford to choose more ethical choices for when you do decide to consume meat or animal products.

By keeping an open mind and considering that consuming less is still better than not trying at all, we can all do our part to take responsibility for our actions and take an active role in creating the type of world that we want to live in. By doing this, no doubt it will affect the lives of those around you and they too might become curious about what it means to simply eat less meat, or consume more plants.

Eating a more ethical and responsible diet doesn’t have to be about the label, we don’t need to identify with a label, another article I wrote talked about how some aggressive vegans are turning people off from even considering a change in lifestyle, in that case, is doing more harm than good. Let’s all have compassion towards one another and where everyone is at in terms of their dietary preferences, chances are many of these “hardcore vegans” were once bacon loving big mac eaters as well. By simply raising awareness instead of preaching, judging, and getting defensive, people will be more inclined to at least consider this as an option.

Either way, these numbers are growing and it’s incredible to see! The first step towards change is by raising awareness and this is one aspect of our world that is definitely changing. Woo hoo! This is a reason to celebrate.

7 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About The Lost City Of Atlantis

Sat, 2018-02-17 15:11

By ALANNA KETLER, Collective Evolution

Atlantis, the intriguing mystery that leaves many of us curious to learn more, and some of us skeptical and dismissive. What is it about this lost city that leaves so many of us questioning much of what we have been taught to believe? Is there some truth to the story of Atlantis that we inherently know, deep down inside that is true? Are we connected in some way to this mythical place from, perhaps our past lives?

These questions are fun to ponder, but we are unlikely to get any definite answers, at least not yet.

First, Some History

How much do you know about Atlantis? Where does this story even come from? From what we do know, the first known documentation of the story of Atlantis came from the Greek philosopher, Plato in two of his writings, Timaeus and Critias, both these books date back to about 360 BC. Within these books, Plato wrote that the Greek sage, Solon was given the story of Atlantis in Egypt by a priest and upon his arrival back to Greece, he shared the story with his relative, Dropides who passed it down to his son Critias, who then passed it down to his grandson – also names Critias, who then finally shared it with the well-known Greek philosopher, Socrates.

So, given the above information, you can see that this was a story that was told, and passed down through many generations, therefore it should not be taken as fact. Despite of this, for some reason many of us feel a strong connection to the story of Atlantis and believe it to be true.

In the report, author M. Pierre Termeir, a member of the Academy of Sciences and Director of Service of the Geologic Chart of France, gives a lecture regarding the Atlantean civilization.  He makes a compelling case for further study of this lost city:

After a long period of disdainful indifference, observe how in the last few years science is returning to the study of Atlantis. How many naturalists, geologists, zoologists, or botanists are asking one another today whether Plato has not transmitted to us, with slight amplification, a page from the actual history of mankind. No affirmation is yet permissible; but it seems more and more evident that a vast region, continental  or made up of great islands, has collapsed west of the Pillars of Hercules, otherwise called the Straight of Gibraltar, and that its collapse occurred in the not far distant past. In any event, the question of Atlantis is placed anew before men of science; and since I do not believe that it can ever be solved without the aid of oceanography, I have thought it natural to discuss it here, in this temple of maritime science, and to call to such a problem, long scorned but now being revived, the attention of oceanographers, as well as the attention of those who, though immersed in the tumult of cities, lend an ear to the distant murmur of the sea.

You can read this full report here, starting on page 219.

Regardless of how you feel about the lost city of Atlantis, here are 7 things you probably didn’t know…

1. We Know The Supposed Location

In Plato’s writings, he tells us exactly where the lost city lies, his text reads, “came forth out of the Atlantic Ocean… there was an island situated in front of the straits which are by you [in reference to the ancient Greeks], called the Pillars of Heracles.” Today, these are known as the Straits of Gibraltar, the area between Spain and Africa.

In 2011, archaeologist from the University of Hartford, Richard Freund and his team found cities that were built in the image of Atlantis known as “memorial cities.” They were found in the swamps of Doana National Park, which is just North of Cadiz Spain. Interestingly Cadiz sits right outside of the straights, which has Freund convinced that the real Atlantis was buried in the mud flats of the Atlantic. This matches the part of Plato’s story that says, “the sea in those parts is impassable and impentrable, because there is a shoal of mud in the way; and this was caused by the subsidence of the island.

2. The City Of Atlantis Was Named After A Demigod

Despite the fact that Atlantis is apparently in the Atlantic ocean, that’s not where it got it’s name. According to the texts, Poseidon – the Greek god of the sea – had five pairs of male twins with an Atlantean woman, named Cleito. Poseidon gave each of his 10 sons a different portion of the island to rule. His first-born Atlas had the entire island and the surrounding ocean named after him.

3. We Are Missing Half The Story

While we have a complete version of Timaeus, we do not have the completed copy of Critias. In this story we have up until Zeus, head of all Greek gods. “Collected all the gods into their most holy habitation, which, being placed in the center of the world, beholds all created things. And when he had called them together, he spake as follows” and that’s where it ends, talk about leaving you on the edge of your seat! Who knows, maybe this next portion of the book was deliberately left out…  it is not known whether Plato did this on purpose or if we just never were able to find the completed version. There is also a belief that Plato either wrote or had planned on writing a third book about Atlantis called Hermocrates.

4. If Atlantis Were Real, It Would Be At Least 11,500 Years Old

As the text goes, the story of Atlantis was handed to Solon in Egypt after he wanted to draw one of the priests to speak about their oldest of tales. In order to do this, Solon told the priests of the oldest Greek story what he could recall and spoke to them about the great flood and the first man. One priest responded, “O Solon, Solon… there is not an old man among you… in mind you are all young; there is no old opinion handed down among you by ancient tradition.

The priest continued to say that the home city of Solon, Athens was actually much older than he thought it was.

5. Plato Believed The Story To Be True

Even though, aside from hearsay, this story doesn’t really have any solid legs to stand on in terms of physical evidence, Critias claims that this story is in fact, true, “Then listen… to a tale which, though is strange, is certainly true, having been attested by Solon.” To which Socrates responds, “Very good, and what is this ancient famous action of the Athenians, which Critias declared, on the authority of Solon, to be not a mere legend, but an actual fact?

6. Atlantis Was An Empire

In the story told by Plato, he tells us that Atlantis was an empire, “Now in this island of Atlantis, there was a great and wonderful empire which had rule over the whole island and several others, and over parts of the continent, and, furthermore, the men of Atlantis had subjected the parts of Libya within the columns of Heracles as far as Egypt, and of Europe as far as

Tyrrhenia is another name for Eturia, which is now simply known as Central Italy.

7. Atlantis Represents Just One Of Many Times Mankind Has Been & Will Be Destroyed

The Egyptian priest told Solon that none of his stories were actually “truly ancient” compared to his own. He claimed that the reason that Solon lacked true ancient knowledge is because mankind has been destroyed time and time again.

“There have been, and will be again, many destructions of mankind arising out of many causes; the greatest have been brought about the agencies of fire and water, and other lesser ones by innumerable other causes. When, on the other hand, the gods purge the Earth with a deluge of water, the survivors in your country are herdsmen and  shepherds who dwell on the mountains.

There are many philosophers and spiritual teachers that believe that humankind has been wiped out before and will be wiped out again. Some believe this for a simple reason of science and or natural disasters, others believe this is sort of like a cleansing process for us to start again if we have headed on a path of destruction. I mean think about it, the way we are heading now, in regards to how we are treating our environment, there is a chance that we could wipe ourselves out yet again, unless we learn from our mistakes and change our ways.

What do you think about Atlantis? Do you recall a past life there? Do you feel a strong connection to this mythical place? Let us know in the Collective Evolution Group, and join the discussion!

Much Love

New Study Finds Alcohol Damages The Brain More Than Cannabis

Sat, 2018-02-17 14:58

By  Amanda Froelich Truth Theory

Which is better for you — cannabis or alcohol? We may finally have an answer to this question, thanks to research conducted by the University of Colorado Boulder.

According to the new study, alcohol damages the brain more than cannabis. The scientists also concluded that years of exposure to cannabis does not affect the size or integrity of white or grey matter in the brain. As The Daily Mail reports, the grey matter enables brain function whereas white matter controls communication.

Said Professor Kent Hutchison: “While marijuana may also have some negative consequences, it definitely is nowhere near the negative consequences of alcohol.”  Hutchison added that research into cannabis’ mental effects are still very limited.

“Particularly with marijuana use, there is still so much that we don’t know about how it impacts the brain,” said lead author Rachel Thayer. The team is eager to continue their research, as they believe there is “no consistency across all of these studies.” Said Hutchison, “When you look at the research much more closely, you see that a lot of it is probably not accurate.”

“When you look at these studies going back years, you see that one study will report that marijuana use is related to a reduction in the volume of the hippocampus [a region of the brain associated with memory and emotions],” Hutchison continued. “The next study then comes around, and they say that marijuana use is related to changes in the cerebellum or the whatever. The point is that there’s no consistency across all of these studies in terms of the actual brain structures. We still have a lot of work to do.”

The team agrees that there is a long way to go before cannabis is regarded as a household staple. This is because many people are concerned with how the class-C drug affects people of different ages, manages pain, and causes addition. “Considering how much is happening in the real world with the legalisation movement, we still have a lot of work to do,” said Hutchison.

In the USA, approximately half of all states have legalized marijuana for medicinal use. Recreational marijuana is allowed in Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska and Colorado.

Study Finds Link Between Cancer And Ultra-Processed Foods

Sat, 2018-02-17 11:48

By  Amanda Froelich Truth Theory

Want to live a long, healthy life? Ditch the processed, refined foods and instead, add more fruits, vegetables, legumes, leafy greens, and nuts and seeds to your diet. According to a new study published in the British Medical Journal, there is an link between an increased risk of cancer and “ultra-processed foods.” These foods include sodas, mass-produced bread, instant noodles, candy, and ready meals.

For the study, scientists at the Sorbonne in Paris peered at the medical records and eating habits of over 105,000 middle-aged French people. The data helped them determine that a 10 percent increase in the proportion of ultra-processed foods in a person’s diet is linked with a 12 percent higher risk of cancer.

The team noted that people who consumed the highest amount of ultra-processed foods were more likely to be smokers, had lower levels of education, were less physically active, and also consumed more calories. As IFLScience reports, the study was looking for a correlation — not a causation. As a result, no foods that specifically cause cancer were listed.

The scientists’ definition of “ultra-processed foods” seems to be fairly loose. Botanist and food expert James Wong addressed this when he tweeted, “That’s the problem with terms like ‘ultra-processed’.” He added that technically, organic superfood protein bars, gluten-free and artisanal bread, and vegan (non-GMO) health shakes are all “ultra-processed.”

What we do know is that the study took into account “the nature, extent, and purpose of the industrial processing.” Foods that fall under this category include packaged breads and buns; sweet or savory packaged snacks; meatballs, poultry, and fish nuggets; industrialized confectionary and desserts; reconstituted meat products; instant noodles and soups; frozen or shelf-stable ready meals.

Tom Sanders, Professor Emeritus of Nutrition and Dietetics at King’s College London, cautioned that because “what people eat is an expression of their lifestyle,” it may be necessary to “rule out what are called confounding factors – things already known to cause cancer such as smoking, obesity, alcohol intake and low intakes of fruit and vegetables.”

“The approach of categorising dietary patterns that depend on industrially processed food in relation to disease risk is novel but probably needs refining before it can be translated into practical dietary advice,” Sanders concluded.

Are Cryptocurrencies Ruining The Search For Alien Life?

Sat, 2018-02-17 11:42

By  Amanda Froelich Truth Theory

Are cryptocurrencies ruining the search for alien life? According to a handful of scientists, the answer is “yes.”

Dan Werthimer, chief scientists at the Berkeley Seti (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) told the BBC: “We’d like to use the latest GPUs [graphics processing units]… and we can’t get ‘em.” The reason why? Bitcoin mining.

GPUs are chips that are designed to process images, video and animations for the computer screen. They are increasingly being employed for non-graphic tasks that involve a lot of repetitive computing — such as mining for cryptocurrencies or listening out for alien signals.

“At Seti we want to look at as many frequency channels as we possibly can because we don’t know what frequency ET will be broadcasting on and we want to look for lots of different signal types – is it AM or FM, what communication are they using?” said Werthimer.

As you might imagine, Seti’s process takes up a lot of computing power. At Berkeley alone, there are approximately 100 GPUs sorting through various radio frequencies that are passing through our part of the galaxy.

According to Aaron Parsons of the University of California at Berkeley, the increasing price of GPUs is halting the expansion of the university’s radio telescope (the Hydrogen Epoch of Reionisation Array, or HERA). Within three months, the price of GPUs doubled.

“We’ll be able to weather it but it is coming out of our contingency budget,” said Parsons. Parsons estimates the project will cost an extra $32,000, due to the increasing price of GPUs.

There’s no way around it — the topic of cryptocurrencies is controversial. Clearly, the process of mining Bitcoin isn’t the best for the environment. After all, Iceland is set to use more energy mining Bitcoin than to power homes this year. However, if cryptocurrencies prove more secure than conventional currencies (which are already “digital,” as they are not backed by gold) and eliminates the need for a third-party (aka, “banks”), perhaps effort should be poured into perfecting the process, rather than slamming it.

Engineers Create Method Of Making Wood As Strong As Steel, Even Bulletproof

Fri, 2018-02-16 14:25

By , The Mind Unleashed

Engineering scientists reportedly have invented what they call a new type of “super wood.” It is said to be 10 times stronger than regular wood, and is being promoted as an innovation that could be a practical replacement for steel and harder building materials.

They call it “densified wood.” To compress wood like this, a certain chemical treatment and then a heated process of compression occurs. “The resulting chemical bonds make the wood strong enough to one day be used in buildings and vehicles,” according to Science Alert. The research was published in the journal where everything is published, in Nature.

The engineers fired projectiles similiar to bullets at their densified wood, and report that the material causes the projectile to become lodged in it, rather than going straight through it. They suggest advancements in armor plating could arise from this.

University of Maryland senior researcher Liangbing Hu said:

“This new way to treat wood makes it 12 times stronger than natural wood and 10 times tougher. This could be a competitor to steel or even titanium alloys, it is so strong and durable. It’s also comparable to carbon fibre, but much less expensive.”

“It is both strong and tough, which is a combination not usually found in nature,” Teng Li of the University of Maryland, another team member added.

“It is as strong as steel, but six times lighter. It takes 10 times more energy to fracture than natural wood. It can even be bent and moulded at the beginning of the process.”

So what chemicals exactly are used to make densified wood? There are two steps: natural wood is boiled in a mixture of sodium sulphite and sodium hydroxide, kind of similiar to the process of creating wood pulp for paper.

Then, the walls between individual cells in the wood are collapsed during a phase of compression. New chemical bonds are encouraged by heat as the wood continues to undergo compression. Remember how plants have strong cell walls?

Polymers beneficial to the wood’s strength are preserved during this process, and polymers that allow the new wood to reform are stripped out.

The science behind it apparently lies in several hydrogen atoms creating bonds to nanofibers of cellulose. However, they claim the chemical reactions are actually complex, despite how simple and inexpensive the process is.

The technique also reportedly works on many different types of wood. That’s very good if you think about hemp. More trees don’t need to be cut down, but what if this type of technology could be applied to other plant based materials?

Ever heard of hempcrete?

Other engineering scientists unrelated to the study commented on the technique. According to Huajian Gao of Brown University in Rhode Island:

“It is particularly exciting to note that the method is versatile for various species of wood and fairly easy to implement. The [published] paper provides a highly promising route to the design of lightweight, high performance structural materials, with tremendous potential for a broad range of applications where high strength, large toughness and superior ballistic resistance are desired.”

In conclusion a lot of scientific research these days can be seen as taking technology too far, or manipulating nature too far for the ends of whoever funded the research, but not this.

Some technologies genuinely advance the ability of regular people to live prosperous lives, and this would probably fall into that category: a technology that is useful, harmless, and can be decentralized.

Demand For Meat Substitutes In Europe Has Increased By 451%

Fri, 2018-02-16 14:15

By  Amanda Froelich Truth Theory

Europe is rapidly embracing faux meats. According to a new report conducted by researchers working in the TRansition paths to sUstainable legume based systems in Europe (TRUE), citizens in Europe are enjoying legumes more and more, and are increasingly finding alternatives to meat.

TRUE found that products containing grain legumes, such as lentils, beans, and soybeans, were made up about 39 percent of the growth in Europe. Reportedly, Western Europeans are responsible for most of the growth.

Said João Ferreira, a student at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP): “The most active region was the United Kingdom, with a share of 19 % of total new legume-inclusive product launches in Europe, followed by France (14 %) and Germany (13 %).”

Pre-packaged meat alternatives were by far the most popular sector, boasting a growth of 451 percent. There was also 196 percent increase for vegan products and 73 percent for gluten-free products. Bean-based snacks experienced a growth of 128 percent and demand for pasta increased by 295 percent, explained Carla Teixeira, lead author of the report.

The researchers also concluded that worldwide, the diversity of plant-based products is increasing. Exactly 27,058 new legume products were placed on the markets to meet consumer demand for ethical products.

When numbers were crunched, the researchers also learned that consumer preference has shifted. Green beans were still the most popular legume mid-2017, but their overall share decreased by 23 percent, compared to 2013. Chickpeas and lentils, on the other hand, increased by 47 percent and 8 percent, respectively.

The trends are encouraging, to say the least. Research has shown that a diet containing high amounts of animal protein increases a person’s risk of developing diseases of affluence, including cardiovascular disease, stroke, and diabetes. Legumes, on the other hand, are more filling than meat and are better for your waist and the planet. Consumption of legumes also reduces the risk of developing diabetes and heart disease. Finally, legumes are more affordable than meat, so why wouldn’t people want to eat more of them?

New Report Proposes The Government Should Pay Every Brit Under 55 £10,000

Fri, 2018-02-16 14:11

BLuke Miller Truth Theory

New report suggests the government should give everyone under 55 £10,000 regardless of employment status or current wealth.

The findings have come from The Royal Society for the encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA)  saying it could be the transition needed for everyone to eventually receive a state funded basic wage.

The idea proposes two seperate payments of £5,000 to be paid over a two year period. This would also result in other benefits and tax reliefs being removed.

RSA believe the incentive will support the way work and jobs will be changing during the 2020’s “as automation replaces many jobs, climate change hits and more people face balancing employment with social care”.

The money would be taken from a British sovereign wealth fund, and applicants would only have to explain how they plan to use the money.

Director of the RSA’s Action and Research Centre Anthony Painter has said: “The simple fact is that too many households are highly vulnerable to a shock in a decade of disruption, with storm clouds on the horizon if automation, Brexit and an ageing population are mismanaged.

Without a real change in our thinking, neither tweaks to the welfare state nor getting people into work alone, when the link between hard work and fair pay has broken, will help working people meet the challenges ahead.”

It is thought that the fund would help people who have not had time to pursue their passion: “A low-skilled worker might reduce their working hours to attain skills enabling career progression.” and “The fund could provide the impetus to turn an entrepreneurial idea into a reality. It could be the support that enables a carer to be there for a loved one.”

The BBC reports: The fund would be built from public debt, levies on untaxed corporate assets and investments in long term infrastructure projects, and be similar to Norway’s $1 trillion sovereign wealth fund.

As the dividends would replace payments such as Child Benefit, Tax Credits and Jobseeker’s Allowance, the savings for the government could also be ploughed into the fund.

A similar idea is currently being trialed in Finland were 2000 random unemployed people are all being given around £500 per month.

The idea also has roots in Alaska were since 1982 all residents are entitled to a yearly cash dividend taken from the Alaska Permanent Fund.

Scotland has 4 local authorities currently looking into the idea. And one hopeful US Democrat presidential nominee, David Yang is currently promoting his idea of a $1,000 a month “Freedom Dividend”.

A potential argument against would be- do we want a government being in control of so much of our finances which could be revoked at any time they decide? Although the main argument against it are that it would make people lazy and unmotivated. The arguments for it is the opposite, it will give people the opportunity to pursue their passions, without the fear they will not be able to survive.

Overall it sounds like an interesting incentive, let us know what you think, and please share this article.

How To Survive A Spiritual Awakening

Fri, 2018-02-16 14:07

BLuke Miller Truth Theory

A spiritual awakening can be a rollercoaster ride of up and down emotions, here is how you can ride the waves:

What is a spiritual awakening?

A spiritual awakening is the emergence of your essence (higher self), and/or a connection (or a glimpse of a connection) with the oneness that connects us all. We are born as this essence and as time passes we often lose a connection to this root existence. A spiritual awakening is us as an older being with a more developed (physical) mind and body reconnecting with this essence which can sometimes come as a shock.

What can cause your awakening?

Sometimes a singular event which breaks your current routine of thought- for example, going away on holiday could force you to reflect when you are usually busy. Meeting someone who has already had a spiritual awakening can trigger one in us. A new relationship or the ending of a relationship. A new job or the ending of a job. An experience with a mind altering substance, or an experience similar which could be induced through meditation, breathwork, dancing, singing, art or anything that gets you out of your head. A near death experience, or a miracle that cannot be explained rationally. All can cause what seems like a spontaneous awakening.

It can also be a series of events, such as synchronicities that continually show up leading you in a specific direction. At times like these it can feel as if the universe is speaking with you in an unspoken language, and often it actually is.

Sometimes the cause of your awakening is not apparent and while there is usually a trigger of some kind, it is not always obvious without us taking the time to reflect upon it.

What should you do if you have had a spiritual awakening?

The first thing is to slow down, it can be a lot when your whole life gets turned upside down, so don’t make any decisions that you may later regret. This is not to say that you should not make changes, you probably will. But in a euphoric state you can often do something drastic, expecting everything to just fall into place and this is not always how it works.

Accept that life may be different to how you thought it was, and try to take some time out and just be with yourself. Talk to friends and family who may understand, but do so without being forceful. Speak to others who have experienced the same thing, but also realise that just because someone has experienced this, it doesn’t mean they have it figured out or will have answers for you.

Most importantly (without being in too much of a rush) listen to your intuition and feelings.

How to not alienate yourself from family and friends?

It is very common to become alienated from friends and family while going through a spiritual awakening, this is often due to us becoming forceful with ideas and trying to show others what we have felt. This is not to say you should not share your experience, but to do so with people you can fully trust and to do so in a way that is not you preaching to them.

Another common behaviour is for us to isolate ourselves, as we think no one will understand. This is quite often the case with our current support system, however there are always people out there that can help to guide you.

Do things that make you happy, meet people who have similar interests to you and explore the things you used to enjoy as a young child. This is not to say you have to do the things you done as a child, but to try to remember the feelings you had and do things that could replicate them feelings.

Techniques

Gratitude is something we can find no matter where we are in life. Look for what is good and water the seeds.

Ask for spiritual guidance, but also realise no one will do the work for you. This could be prayer, asking your higher self or just saying it outloud to whoever you believe could be listening.

Meditation practice can really help, simply focus on your breath and breathe deep into your stomach, while watching the breath. Make sure you keep your back straight and use the time to come into your body.

Spend time in nature. Nature is honest, non judgemental and allows you to view the world from a different perspective. Spend time with the trees and feel their unconditional love.

Slow down! Like other major events there is a transitional phase, don’t be in a rush to be at the next stage. It is a bit like when you start a new job or have a child- you may (or may not) thrive in this transition but there will be hurdles and unexpected things that arise. Resist the temptation to allow your mind to make all the decisions. Synchronistic events will unfold and sometimes you will need to not cling to your current position and allow things to be free flowing.

Trust your intuition. Your gut will tell you what is right for you in an animalistic/instinctive kind of way. Your heart will tell you if it is inline with the higher good and your mind will scream no!!! The physical brain has its uses, but intuition is not one of them, get out the brain and listen to your intuitive mind.

Write down your thoughts. This can really allow you to gain an understanding of what is going on in your head and can come in handy at a later date when you feel to reflect.

Conclusion

A spiritual awakening is a beautiful thing to go through as it is honest and reveals our true self, however our resistance to cling to the old can really make it a painful transition. Whatever stage you are in now is where you are supposed to be to have the highest realisations of where you are heading. Trust this moment and know that all passes. Much love, Luke

The Real Cause Of Depression Has Been Completely Overlooked

Thu, 2018-02-15 12:44

By , The Mind Unleashed

If you are like one of millions of other people suffering from depression, you’ve probably been told you need to take pharmaceutical drugs because your brain doesn’t work right. It simply doesn’t produce chemicals like serotonin, GABA, dopamineoxytocin, and endogenous DMT or other tryptamines it needs to for you to feel calm, safe, and happy. “Take this prescription, and maybe this one too,” they tell you, “and we can fix your broken brain.”

Many of us have tried this pharmaceutical approach to our depression or watched people we love try it, only to watch these drugs fail wretchedly. One might argue that it’s not astrophysics figuring out why these drugs don’t work. The FDA approves new depression and pain meds all the time without a modicum of scientific integrity. The sugar pills we are given contain health-harming chemicals that alter our digestive system, damage our delicate nervous system, alter adrenal function and more, but when you are in pain, you’ll do just about anything to stop it.

And so, these medications might relieve some pain after taking a high dose for a time, but somehow depression always rears its ugly head again. And because we’ve been told that our brains are broken and that these medications will fix them, we feel even more flawed when they start to fail us. If you’ve ever been on a maximum dose of an antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication, or watched someone you care about take them only to observe them plummet to new lows, you know exactly what this vicious cycle entails. You know how despondent someone can become knowing that the one thing they’ve been brainwashed to think can help them is now failing.

Here’s the reality, though. That reaction to antidepressants isn’t strange. It’s pretty normal. Common even. Leading scientists are even now finally admitting that the “chemically imbalanced” brain notion is bunk. This fact has largely been proven already in clinical trials of these drugs. They use something called the Hamilton Scale to determine where you lie on a continuum between pure ecstasy and suicidal tendencies. Just as a reference – getting enough sleep can bump up your Hamilton score by 6 points. Eating high quality, organic, plant-based food can bump you up another 6 points on the Hamilton scale. Listening to music you love, or spending time with friends can bump you up several more points – closer to joy and further away from despondency and depression.

And unsurprisingly, the FDA has passed drugs which offer a statistically insignificant rise on the Hamilton Scale (HAM-D), of someone’s overall mood. In some cases, less than a .01 change and the FDA says that the company making the drug can sell it without worry of legal recourse. The FDA’s own guidelines aren’t even clear on what a statistical relevance amounts to, in order to give a drug a green light. Moreover, a drug can be tested an infinite number of times to get a “positive” result – meaning it alters the HAM-D scale, while negative results in the dozens or even hundreds can simply be thrown out.

But none of these facts stop Pfizer from stating in a television advertisement for Zoloft that “depression is a serious medical condition that may be due to a chemical imbalance,” and that “Zoloft works to correct this imbalance.”

All this aside, the chemicals in our brains are only responding to the deeper, more profound reasons that we are depressed. We don’t have “generalized anxiety” or “clinical depression.”We have an epidemic of abuse, poverty, extrinsic value being forced down our throats, and a general disregard for human connection and empathic contact.

Only two of the nine factors which can cause depression are biological.

For example, Professor Tim Kasser in Illinois has done research which points to two important causes of depression. The more your life is driven by extrinsic values, the more you will become depressed and anxious, the more you will live a hollow, unsatisfying life.

An intrinsic motivation to do something would amount to wanting to learn to play the piano because you love the way the instrument sounds, and you want to someday play a little like Beethoven just to challenge yourself. An extrinsic reason to learn to play the piano would be because you feel guilty that your parents plopped down hundreds of dollars for lessons, even though you have no real interest in playing or because it you don’t you won’t be able to pay the rent on your dilapidated apartment with the funds you get from playing in a dive piano bar.

Our society is dominated by extrinsic values. We are constantly being primed to believe that buying, consuming, showing off, or demonstrating how we look on the outside will bring us joy, but this machinery of the advertising industries who want to keep us as consumptive slaves inculcates extrinsic value.

Other non-biological causes of depression? Not having access to fulfilling work, enduring childhood trauma, and living through poverty. We can see an example of this play out in the work of Dr. Vincent Felitti in San Diego who was commissioned to do work on obesity. He worked with people who were extremely obese – more than 400 pounds. Felitti decided to just give them no food for a while, and to support their health while they lost weight with vitamins and nutrients they needed. Participants were medically supervised during this alarmingly simple process. And they did lose weight. People who started out at 400 pounds would get all the way down to 130 pounds. But then something equally as startling happened.

The individuals who lost all that weight just as quickly started to put it back on – within weeks. Dr. Felitti couldn’t fathom what was going on. Until he asked one of his patients, called Susan to protect her identity, some interesting questions. He began with asking when she started to become overweight as a child. Susan said she couldn’t recall, but it was around the age of eleven. Dr. Felitti asked if she could recall anything in particular happening to her at that age. Susan replied,

“Yeah, that’s when my grandfather started to rape me.” Dr. Felitti discovered 55 percent of the people in the group had been sexually abused and had put on weight in the immediate aftermath. What he realized is, this thing that seemed irrational—extreme weight gain—in fact, performed a highly necessary function. As Susan put it to him, “Overweight is overlooked, and that’s what I need to be.”

It turned out many of the obese women had been making themselves obese for an unconscious reason: to protect themselves from the attention of men, who they believed would hurt them. Felitti suddenly realized: “What we had perceived as the problem ― major obesity ― was in fact, very frequently, the solution to problems that the rest of us knew nothing about.”

This begs the question – with massive unemployment, rampant childhood trauma which points to a seven-times-the-risk for depression, and a 4,000 percent increase for drug use, what is the collective psyche telling us about the world we live in? We aren’t brain dysfunctional. Our brains are working exactly as they should – they are alerting us that something is stinkin’ wrong with the world we live in.

Many of us with depression can think back to multiple instances of child abuse, negligence, and abandonment. We were likely raised by narcissistic parents who themselves, were abused. If our parents happened to be fairy-tale perfect, society did its own number on us, either bullying the innocent, exposing us to broken families and rampant poverty, or simply mind-controlling the heck out of us into thinking that because we don’t fit the images paraded before us, we are somehow lacking or inferior.

Our brains are trying to help us live. They become depressed and anxious because they are calling those wounds to the surface so that they can be healed. If we keep medicating them, the wounds will only crash to shore with more vengeance, until we finally understand the Higher Purpose of pain. Just as food can be toxic to our bodies, so can stress. Adverse childhood experiences coupled with real depression-instilling societal norms upheld today have created an epidemic of depression.

As Rumi said, “The light enters where the wound is.” The clinical diagnosis of a “broken brain”is so off, we need a new definition for depression.

Funny how our brains can’t be tricked. Just forcing them to make more serotonin vis-à-vis an SSRI doesn’t magically make unhealed or unprocessed pain go away. It turns out our brains are not only NOT broken, they are genius. They won’t relent, even with Big Pharma’s meds being shoved at them, until we heal our deepest wounds.

Instead of asking what is wrong with us, we need to start healing what has happened to us.

Right Before Her Death She Agreed To Have Lsd, Psilocybin & Mdma – The Result Was Beautiful

Thu, 2018-02-15 12:40

By COLLECTIVE EVOLUTION

Mara Howell was in pain, the type of pain so severe it found her bedridden in a hospital at 33 years old. Cancer was killing her.

Conventional pain killers weren’t providing any relief. She tried them all, opioids, methadone, IV ethanol, and more, but to no avail. On top of the physical pain, Mara was also battling severe depression and anxiety, wrote April Shortin her article, Psychedelics Could Change The Way We Die.

Mara’s mother, Marilyn Howell, recalls her daughter’s struggles in a memoir published for MAPS:

However much courage Mara had, the waves of illness that washed over her were unrelenting. Diligent exercise didn’t make her stronger, an antidepressant didn’t make her happier.”

Cannabis had provided temporary ease for Mara, but nothing substantial enough to make her situation bearable.

Being a mind-body educator, Mara’s mother suspected that her daughter’s pain was perhaps connected to something less tangible than what Western medicine was willing to accept. It was deeper than the physical.

Working with Mara’s nurse, Marilyn eventually discovered an alternative treatment option for her daughter: Psychedelic therapy.

Psychedelics helped Mara find peace in the final days before her death. What happens during the experience that helps people come to terms with their imminent passing?

Psychedelics helped Mara find peace in the final days before her death. What happens during the experience that helps people come to terms with their imminent passing?

Mara had heard about the use of psychedelics before from Aldous Huxley’s 1954 book The Doors of Perceptionwherein Huxley described using LSD to subdue his own suffering from terminal cancer. In his final moments, Huxley was injected with a strong dose of LSD by his wife, who recorded the experience in her book The Timeless Moment.

Marilyn was aware of the theraputic applications of such drugs as MDMA and LSD from her youth, before the Controlled Substances Act had its strong grasp on psychedelic research decades ago. During the 1980’s, Marilyn recalled how MDMA assisted therapy was a popular treatment for anxiety, depression and PTSD symptoms (In recent years, the FDA has even allowed for a limited amount of research in this field once again).

Thankfully, Mara’s nurse was able to track down a qualified psychiatrist who had just worked on MDMA-assisted therapy research at McLean Hospital. He travelled to Mara’s bedside and administered a controlled dose of MDMA in a guided session. Remarkably, Mara’s pain vanished during the session,

“He came and did a guided session with [Mara] with MDMA, and Marilyn did it with her,” Joyce (Mara’s nurse) said. “They reported that she was pain free during that time. I think [she] died pain free a few days after that.”

In her final days of life, Mara underwent carefully supervised psychotherapy sessions under the influence of MDMA, LSD and psilocybin “magic” mushrooms. The treatments eased her pain, and she was able to get out of bed to take walks in a nearby park. The drugs also helped Mara reach a deep sense of acceptance of her imminent death.

Mara’s hospice care worker, Vassallo, was blown away by the results of the therapy,

“[For Mara] it was just always about pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, no matter what we did,” Vassallo said. “And we did a lot … to try to control her pain, and really nothing worked. My theory is that the pain –– I don’t think it was conscience, but it was on the subconscious level –– [Mara] needed to have the pain, because if everyone was focused on the pain, that kept everyone unfocused on the fact that this 32-year-old was dying.”

Vassallo said that psychedelics seemed to open Mara up to a new reality that provided imminent peace during her final days.

Check out Marilyn’s blog for more on her daughter’s story, Honor Thy Daughter.

Current Psychedelic-Therapy Research

Although limited, there have been successful applications of psychedelic therapy during studies in recent years.

Last year a study concluded that LSD-assisted psychotherapy is effective in easing anxiety in dying patients. The double-blind, placebo-controlled study was sponsored by MAPS and conducted by Swiss psychiatrist Peter Gasser and his colleagues.

They tracked 12 people who were in the process of dying, primarily due to terminal illness, as they attended LSD-assisted psychotherapy sessions. All but one of the participants had never taken LSD prior to participating in the study. An Austrian participant named Peter described the experience as follows:

“My LSD experience brought back some lost emotions and ability to trust, lots of psychological insights, and a timeless moment when the universe didn’t seem like a trap, but like a revelation of utter beauty.”

Charles Grob, a psychiatrist and researcher at Harbor-U.C.L.A. Medical Center, completed a study in 2008 that showed the ability of psilocybin (the active component in psychedelic mushrooms) to ease fear of death in 12 end-stage cancer patients. The study results, published in the Archives of General Psychiatry in 2011, concluded that the treatment could be done safely and successfully reduced all subjects’ anxiety and depression about impending death.

Research involving ayahuasca has also turned out encouraging data showing its ability to reduce psychological traumas and anxieties, and several studies involving MDMA-assisted psychotherapyhave shown it to be statistically significant in reducing anxiety and PTSD symptoms in study participants. To date, clinical trials looking specifically at psychedelics for the end of life are limited, but determined researchers continue to delve into the potentials of various substances.

What Does The Future Hold For Psychedelic Therapy?

Mara’s story is yet another example of the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. If utilized properly, psychedelics can serve as an immensely accelerated means of healing deeply-rooted trauma and anxiety. One of the most exciting factors within this field of research is that it still yields so much potential, as we’ve only  begun to scratch the surface of what psychedelics have to offer. If studies keep producing promising results, we could very well be seeing some major changes within psychedelic legislation very soon.

What are you thoughts on psychedelic intervention in easing the dying process?

Neurologists Have Made An Instrument You Can Play Just By Thinking

Thu, 2018-02-15 12:34

By Fattima Mahdi Truth Theory

If you can think it, you can play it. The encephalophone is an instrument that emits notes according to a person’s brain signals. The device was developed by neurologists and composers at the University of Washington and is designed to help those who have had a stroke or restricted by paralysis to engage with music.

Lead researcher Dr. Thomas Deuel said that the encephalophone is “an EEG-controlled musical instrument.” He went on to say that: “When you move your right arm, the motor cortex is engaged and I can see that with the EEG. But when you just think about moving your arm, the same signal happens — even if you’ve had a stroke or Lou Gehrig’s disease and think about moving your arm, I can see it.”

So, how does it work? The person playing the instrument wears an electrode cap, the cap detects the wearer’s brain waves and and can be set off by thoughts and facial movements. These waves are synthesised to produce string, piano and many other sounds. “I thought it would be great to use a brain-computer instrument to enable patients to play music again without requiring movement,” says Deuel.

The video below features a relaxed Deuel playing his instrument with a live jazz band.

Scientists Figured Out Why Alcohol Turns People Into Mean Drunks

Thu, 2018-02-15 12:30

By  Amanda Froelich Truth Theory

When people get drunk, they do weird things. Some dance on pool tables, others get giggly then weep. Then, there are those who become angry drunks and take out their pent up frustration on others.

To establish why alcohol can make some people turn aggressive, scientists of the University of New South Wales took MRI scans of the brains of tipsy men. They published their findings in the journal Cognitive, Affective & Behavioral Neuroscience.

The findings confirmed previous speculation that alcohol affects the prefrontal cortex in the brain. The region is associated with social behavior, personality expression, and a number of other functions.

For the study, 50 young men were either given two drinks containing vodka or placebo drinks that did not contain any alcohol. The men then competed in a reaction-time game against an AI component; all the while, researchers monitored changes in their brain activity.

Among the young men who drank and whose aggression had been sparked, there was a notable decline in the activity of the prefrontal cortex. As IFLScience reports, this means the men were not putting much energy into dealing with social cues. This led them to behave with fewer inhibitions.

Said lead author, Thomas Denson, in a statement:

“Although there was an overall dampening effect of alcohol on the prefrontal cortex, even at a low dose of alcohol we observed a significant positive relationship between dorsomedial and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex activity and alcohol-related aggression. These regions may support different behaviors, such as peace versus aggression, depending on whether a person is sober or intoxicated.

“We encourage future, larger-scale investigations into the neural underpinnings of alcohol-related aggression with stronger doses and clinical samples. Doing so could eventually substantially reduce alcohol-related harm.”

Alcohol vs Marijuana

Alcohol has a reputation for fueling violent offenses, including sexual assault, robbery, child abuse, and homicide. Once again, scientists have confirmed that it dampens inhibitions, leading people to act in a more aggressive manner.

Why is this substance easily available to all above 21 years of age in the United States and most countries, when the marijuana plant, a natural substance, is prohibited by nearly all? There are 0 cases of cannabis overdose in the world; yet, every year in the United States, approximately 88,000 people die from alcohol poisoning.

Finally, people who consume the marijuana plant are prone to peaceful action. The same cannot be said for people who consume alcohol. While it should be a human being’s right to determine which substance they would like to partake in, the government can not ignore that the prohibited substance would be a much healthier vice for the populace.

According To Science, This Is How Much You Should Earn To Be Happy

Thu, 2018-02-15 12:27

By  Amanda Froelich Truth Theory

Money can’t buy happiness — or can it? According to a new study conducted by researchers from Purdue University, there are certain thresholds of income at which people report increased levels of happiness.

The team surveyed 1.7 million people from 164 different countries. They then looked at people’s emotional well-being, day-to-day feelings, and life-evaluation (essentially, how happy one is with their life). The study, published in Nature Human Behaviour, concluded that there are certain thresholds that are evident in the relationship between money and happiness.

Said lead author Andrew T. Jebb in a statement

“It’s been debated at what point does money no longer change your level of well-being. We found that the ideal income point is $95,000 for life evaluation and $60,000 to $75,000 for emotional well-being. Again, this amount is for individuals and would likely be higher for families.”

“And, there was substantial variation across world regions, with satiation occurring later in wealthier regions for life satisfaction,” Jebb continued. “This could be because evaluations tend to be more influenced by the standards by which individuals compare themselves to other people.”

In East Asia, Western and Northern Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, the ideal income for emotional well-being is around $50,000. In North America, the ideal income is between $65,000 and $75,000. The remainder of the planet, excluding North Africa and the Middle East, is between $110,000 and $125,000.

As IFLScience reports, people earning below a certain amount tended to report lower level of life satisfaction, lower emotional well-being, or both. This helped the researchers determine the various thresholds. The team also noted that different social classes may influence the relationship between money and happiness. This is because certain people are focused on affording basic securities (such as food and housing), whereas other as trying to adhere to societal expectations and the scrutinization of peers.

“At this point they are asking themselves, ‘Overall, how am I doing?’ and ‘How do I compare to other people?’” said Jebb. “These findings speak to a broader issue of money and happiness across cultures. Money is only a part of what really makes us happy, and we’re learning more about the limits of money.”

This isn’t the first study of its kind. Researchers at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School concluded that the lower a person’s annual income falls below the $75,000 benchmark, the unhappier he or she feels. However, no greater degree of happiness was reported by people who make above the figure, either. This suggests people like relative security, but not the pressure that accompanies making so much money they don’t know how to handle it — or themselves.

Why Apathy Is Our Biggest Threat

Thu, 2018-02-15 12:17

“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”

Albert Einstein said “The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.” this rings true for many individual and collective issues that humanity are currently facing.

It is common for us to feel helpless when faced with such large and systemic issues such as environmental problems, racism and homelessness- but we can always do something and that something does not always mean a big commitment of time and/or money.

Founder of the movement Stand for Humanity Yasmin Autwal, shares this powerful idea in a blunt talk on how we can all get involved in the progression of humanity by simply making a small commitment to doing the right thing.

Why Jim Carrey Dumped His Facebook Stock, Deleted His Page & Is Calling For A Facebook Boycott

Tue, 2018-02-13 09:58

By JOE MARTINO, Collective Evolution

Facebook has been under fire all year as a new change to their algorithm will again take pages and businesses out of the newsfeed and replace them with more ‘friends’ posts. A move that apparently users asked for even though Facebook has provided no proof of that.

In fact, Facebook is the only one set to gain from this move as now businesses will have to pay even more to reach an audience they worked so hard to build. Further, users will no longer see any of the content they took the time and energy to say they wanted to see.

This leaves Facebook in the midst of a transition that will likely bury themselves as they are making their platform less useful to users. You see, users decided how they wanted to use Facebook when they began sharing and putting information out that they saw from brands they love. Yet, Facebook feels it knows what users want more, and is now taking that all away.

I have called this  Facebook’s start to their own downfall. They’ve chosen constant growth and profit over user experience, instead of a sustainable business model that also aligns with its users. And users can see this, in fact, they are upset that they don’t know how Facebook works nor how to control what they want to see.

Now Facebook has come under attack again as a tweet coming from the conscious mind of Jim Carrey states he will be dumping his Facebook stock and deleting his Facebook page because he feels it’s unacceptable that Facebook profited off of Russian advertisements in Facebook about the US election.

I’m dumping my @facebook stock and deleting my page because @facebook profited from Russian interference in our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it. I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same. #unfriendfacebook pic.twitter.com/KHWgZzhhmp

Russian Ad Buying On Facebook

Of course Jim is referring to the information that came out about Russian ad purchasing on Facebook during the 2016 US election. Facebook and Twitter had revealed that Kremlin-linked groups were buying advertisements on both social media platforms during the 2016 presidential election. The ads appeared to push voters away from Hillary Clinton and instead towards Donald Trump, Jill Stein, or Bernie Sanders.

Whether or not you agree that this made a difference in the election, which it likely did not, some are not happy about it.

It’s unclear whether or not Jim is unhappy with Trump’s election or if he more so is trying to hold Facebook accountable for its unconscious actions in allowing another country to create advertisements that could sway voter decisions, but nonetheless he has something to say.

“We must encourage more oversight by the owners of these social media platforms,” Carrey stated in aCNBC statement. “This easy access has to be more responsibly handled. What we need now are activist investors to send a message that responsible oversight is needed. What the world needs now is capitalism with a conscience.”

Why Would Russia Do This?

If you have been following what is happening outside of mainstream news when it comes to the election, you may have noticed that the media went pretty silent about the incredible level of corruption and election manipulation Hillary and the DNC were involved in.

From a bigger picture perspective, Hillary is part of a Deep State regime that has been in power for a very long time. Obama, Bush’s, Clinton, etc. Much of the intelligence we got here at CE during the election pointed towards a divide happening within the Deep State that was pushing out the Clinton’s.

You’ll notice that the Russian ads did not pick one party over another, but instead simply pushed Clinton out. Which makes sense when you consider the divide that is taking place and the move towards ending a deeper side of the corruption that exists within politics. Sure, this is still a corrupt move, and they didn’t put a saint in power, but if you were to do the research, you’d understand Hillary was much more of a poor choice and corrupt individual than any other candidate running… by a long shot.

So based on reflection, perhaps Russia is on the side of helping to pull a piece of the Deep State out of a long time held position.

The Challenge With Media Today

But in a different sense this goes back to an entirely different thing. We must learn to become more critical in our thinking and take responsibility for ourselves and our actions. Just because we see an ad, doesn’t mean we need to be swayed by it.

In fact, that’s a big problem with much of media today. It is manipulative in that it pushes a very clear agenda on the population, yet the population en mass has not yet chosen to stay present and take the time to see through the drama to get to the facts. Even most alternative media is like this. This is an important lesson for us all.

As creators of conscious media here at Collective Evolution, we do not use emotion, anger, fear, or manipulation tactics to present information. We simply provide it for what it is, challenge users to think deeper about it and focus on a big picture understanding. This allows readers and video watchers to make up their own mind, challenge their current ways of thinking all without manipulatively trying to make it happen through fear and panic.

Now of course you may be wondering our stance on Trump. We don’t choose political sides. We understand that politics is not where we will solve human challenges. It’s a game we play that uses fear, lies, and panic to get people to believe in a illusory idea of democracy, which doesn’t truly exist.

We feel Trump is simply a step towards shaking up old regimes that have been in power for a long time, all while bringing out many of the challenges and shadows humanity has within itself surrounding, division, racism, sexism and so forth. Our full analysis on Trump’s POTUS position is here.

Robert De Niro is no fan of Donald Trump. And that isn’t news. However, his present feud with the President of the United States has recently escalated, and it’s caught many people’s attention.

At Dubai’s World Government Summit, De Niro addressed the packed audience and surprised many when he said he was visiting from a “backward” country suffering from “temporary insanity.” The actor explained that in the country he lives in, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency has asserted that global warming may actually be a good thing for humanity.

Said De Niro: “I am talking about my own country, the United States of America. We don’t’ like to say we are a ‘backward’ country so let’s just say we’re suffering from a case of temporary insanity.”

The figurehead added that the country “will eventually cure itself by voting our dangerous leader.” His statement was met by applause and laughter in the audience.

As mentioned above, this isn’t the first time De Niro has publicly criticized President Donald Trump. The most recently criticism of Trump occurred at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala, when the Oscar-winner called Trump “a f**ing fool” and “the jerkoff-in-chief”. During the campaign trail, De Niro also claimed he’s like to “…punch [Trump] in the face.”
